Annie F. Downs writes today of opportunities that come our way not set with neon signs and supernatural pointers but, rather, are seemingly ordinary. Could it be that we don’t see the ‘open doors’ before us because we’re looking for the wrong kind of clues? Yesterday we talked about David’s skills training coming in his everyday ordinary life experiences. Perhaps our opportunities for growth or stepping out may also be offered within the boundaries of our everyday lives.
This book chat started because two friends and I wanted to stay connected over the summer and I had recently read the blurb on 100 Days To Brave. We stepped through that open door with no fanfare or great decision process, it just fit what we needed. Later, one more friend decided to join, then another, then three more, then another bunch until over 40 women bought or downloaded the book. Who knows what we might all achieve before the 100 days are up? Who knows how we might grow, or what deeper friendships might be forged? Whatever may happen, it started with a single opportunity to step into.
Perhaps your doors are already clear to you, or perhaps you don’t think you have any. Downs suggests we pray to notice our open doors. May God direct our steps, leading us to and through our open doors.
