Day 88 – Be Present Where You Are

Do you think you have things in your life that are distractions? Can you identify anything that draws your attention away from the people you’re with? I can certainly get sucked into my phone to the point I’m not fully listening to one of my children, or I can find myself constantly interrupting another task to check my phone. But I can also get caught in worry-disguised-as-planning which leaves me only absent-mindedly involved in conversations, or worse snapping at the dear people I love.

What’s the cure? For me it’s just drawing a line. Putting the device in another room or closing the notebooks, turning my back on the distraction to face the real attraction. For me, there’s no nice way of saying it, I just have to choose to love and be actively present over the other stuff.

Maybe it’s just me but I haven’t found an easier answer for those particular days or moments.

What about you? Is it related to Fear Of Missing Out, or something else? I’d love to hear what you think.
