Downs writes today that we are only truly able to think about other people when we first love ourselves. She asks us to think about and write about how our life and relationships would look different if we lived that truth. She challenges us to consider that loving others is an overflow of God’s love to us and our love for ourself.
Consider how well you love yourself. Do you treat yourself as if you are valuable? How often do you compare yourself unfavourably to others? How easy is it to find things to celebrate about yourself?
As you journal today, let God love you. Ask him to help you understand the height and width and depth of his love for you specifically so that you might fully accept the truth of it and that would enable you to love others better.
